A face mask might not be effective at protecting you against the coronavirus. There are two types of masks including disposable surgical masks and N95 respirator masks. Some experts do not recommend wearing disposable masks.

Unless the person is sick or caring for someone who’s ill. Continuous breathing through disposable makes for over 30 minutes can make them moisturized, giving the virus a chance to stick to the mask.

Such a mask could provide the virus with an optimal temperature to survive. Unlike disposable masks, N95 respirator masks are more effective at protecting you from airborne illnesses.

What are respirators?

While surgical face mask cannot block airborne viruses, respirators can. A study showed that respiratory masks help prevent viral infections like coronavirus. But only when combined with frequent handwashing. A respirator is a tight-fitting protective device worn around the face.

When people say “respirator”, they are usually referring to the N95 respirator. The N95 respirator blocks at least 95% of tiny particles. You can wear them for 8 hours to prevent contamination during surgery. But when it comes to infections, the case might be different.

The key is to wear the mask firmly around your nose and mouth. Studies have shown that they are highly effective in preventing viral illnesses. But only in people that actually wore the masks correctly. Health care officials do not recommend that the public use them.

Because N95 masks are difficult to put on. And require proper fitting and training to work effectively. Washing your hands frequently with the use of hand soap or using a sanitizer is the best way to prevent the spread of illnesses like coronavirus.

A face mask keeps out the liquid of another infected person’s sneeze. It can help prevent you from spreading your illness to someone else. Which means only people with the illness are recommended to wear them.

The face mask industry is booming amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak. Some countries are placing price ceilings on face masks to fight price hikes.

Over a million products have been blocked from being sold on Amazon. After sellers made misleading claims about being able to prevent or cure the coronavirus.
