Quarantine period has opened doors to many home-made dishes. Making the use of this period, let’s go with a traditional plate. Creamy Chicken Pie is a very classic dish with the taste of spice, cream and puffed pastry with a burnt crust.
Let’s see what you need:

Crust Ingredients – serving 6 people
Flour 250g
Salt ¼ tsp
Ice water 100g
Diced butter 125g
One egg

Filling
Oil
Salt & pepper
Onion 1
Chicken cubes without bones
Carrots
Green beans

White sauce
Flour 5 tbsp.
Melted butter 2 ½ tbsp
Fresh milk 200ml
Pinch of salt
Pepper

To make the dough, in a large bowl add flour and diced butter then mix together making crumbs. While making crumbs add ice water and salt. If you are living in a tropical country, make sure to put your fingers into an ice water bowl before mixing the dough. Ice water will keep the butter as it is. If not, the butter will melt in the dough with the warm of your hands. After making the dough, keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Filling

Till then we can make the filling of the pie. First, add oil to a pan. Add chopped onions and shallow fry. Then add chopped carrots and beans. Adding these 3 vegetables one at a time is letting the aroma and flavour come through. And also if the pan is overloaded, the flavour of each vegetable does not burst. Then add chicken cubes and let them fry in butter.

White Sauce

To make the white sauce, firstly in a pan put melted butter and add flour into it. Once the butter is absorbed with flour add milk and stir thoroughly. Then add salt and pepper. White sauce is ready to go with the filling. Mix the fried chicken and vegetables with the white sauce in the off stove.
Preheat your oven for 200 C for 15 minutes.

Take the dough out of the fridge and divide into two parts. Take one part of the dough and roll it. Put some flour on the dough and on the surface where you roll the dough. Then gently place the rolled dough on the pie tray. Remove the excess dough out of the pie tray. Put the filling into the pie tray and to cover the filling roll the other part of the dough. You can make stripes of any design as the cover of the pie. Finally egg-wash the upper surface of the pie. Now the chicken pie is ready to go in the oven. Cook in the 200 C for 35-40 minutes until it the golden brown.
The creamy chicken pie is ready to serve.
